John B. Cobb, Jr.

Professor John B. Cobb, Jr. is founding chairperson of Pando Populus and intellectual architect of our inaugural conference. A member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, John is the author of some fifty books and was among the first to address the intersection of philosophy, ethics, and the environment.

Eugene B. Shirley, Jr.

Eugene B. Shirley, Jr. is founding President and CEO of Pando Populus and a long-time entrepreneur. For twenty-five years, he produced prime-time programming for PBS and some 30 countries under Pacem Productions. John Bielenberg

John Bielenberg is creative director of Pando Populus. He has been described as a “designer, entrepreneur and imaginative advocate for a better world.” John has won more than 250 design awards in his career, including the 2013 AIGA Gold Medal for leadership in the design for good movement.

Tucker Nichols

Tucker Nichols is an artist living and working in the San Francisco Bay area and is artist-in-residence for Pando Populus. Tucker’s most recent solo shows have been held at the ZieherSmith Gallery in New York, Gallery 16 in San Francisco, and the Kunstpanorama in Luzern, Switzerland.

Marc O’Brien

Marc O’Brien is a design strategist for Pando Populus. Marc produces and leads creative workshops that focus on creating positive change while tackling some of today’s gnarly social challenges. Through a series of playful exercises, he helps people come up with fun, unique, and innovative solutions to those challenges.

Michael Braley

Michael Braley is Design Director for Pando Populus.  Creative Director of Braley Design, Michael’s brand, print, book and package design has been recognized with more than 400 professional honors and awards and is in the permanent collections of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design, and others.

Kate Davis

Kate Davis is Design Director for Pando Populus.  Creative Director/Account Director for Braley Design, Kate is a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design and began her career in apparel design with senior positions at Polo Jeans, Esprit, Aeropostale, and others.  She joined Braley Design in 2014, handling client relations, project management, and creative direction.

Michelle Self

Michelle Self heads Pando Hubs web platform development. She is an entrepreneur in engineering and technology. For over twenty years she has worked with transportation, utilities and land planning agencies on the applications of technology and best practices for sustainable design.

Marcela Oliva is Knowledge Architect for Pando Populus. Oliva is Professor in Architecture and Environmental Design at Los Angeles Trade Technical College and founder of UCLA World Peace One Extension Courses.

Betsy Hunter

Betsy Hunter is Head of Partnership Development for Pando Populus.  She brings her experience in special events, public relations and organization to her work as a Pando Arborist and an expediter of special projects.

Kevin Madden

Kevin Madden is Managing Editor of the Pando Populus blog.  He is a communications and planning strategist working on climate change and environmental matters. He was Director of Strategic Partnerships at Climate Resolve.

Myra Shirley

Myra Shirley is Head of Social Media and the Pando Pulp store. She has a background in business and describes herself as a tree-hugger from way back.

Pat Danley Beiting

Pat Danley Beiting is Book Review Editor for Pando Populus. After a career in education, Pat is now focusing on issues of the common good that include the theory and ethics of integral ecology as well as practical support for compassionate communities.

Mervis Reissig

Mervis Reissig is Head Arborist. She got her first taste of activism cleaning birds in the San Francisco Bay oil spill. She retired in 2015 from a career in management and spends time trying to make a better future for her three beautiful grandchildren.

Claudia (C.S.) Pearce

Claudia (C.S.) Pearce has been writing about public affairs, natural science, and religious and ethical issues since 1992. Before that, she was a programmer-analyst and project leader.

Vern Visick was a campus minister at the UW-Madison. He holds a PhD in Ethics and Society from the University of Chicago and is the former Executive Director of New College Madison
