LOCAL STUDENTS COMPETE IN PILOT PROGRAM TO HELP LOS ANGELES

ACHIEVE WATER AND POWER SUSTAINABILITY

SUMMARY: The Magenta House Expo brings middle school students together from LA County to showcase their best and boldest innovations for remaking Los Angeles into a model of water and power sustainability.

The Expo features 6th – 8th grade submissions from Palms Middle School, Vox Collegiate of Los Angeles, Emerson Community Charter School, and Manzanita School and Institute.

Student exhibits will focus on water-wise and power-conscious innovations in three categories: new water-and power-saving tools and technology; new sustainability programs and systems; and new forms of water and power community outreach.

All Expo entries have been innovated and developed over the course of the spring semester in the Magenta House Accelerator, providing teams every opportunity to develop competitive submissions.

Matthew Manos, head of the design strategy firm verynice, moderates the event, featuring local dignitaries and a judged competition. Winning teams will share in cash prizes totaling $5,000.
