The Pando Sustainability Awards honor the project-based work of LA’s young people and practical visionaries who care. The 2024 event celebrates the successes of Pando Days and Magenta House projects produced over the 2023 season, and the Camp Pando launch. Register now!

The Pando Awards celebrate the ingenuity developed under our diverse slate of project-based programs and honors those who have made the programs happen.

Hosted at Caltech in the spring of the year, the event showcases the work of higher-ed students and professors from Pando Days, middle schoolers from Magenta House, and informal learners from Camp Pando. Awards are given out based on the decisions of a distinguished panel of sustainability and social-impact professionals.

The event provides a unique opportunity for teams to move their projects forward with support from local communities, and involves public agencies, businesses, NGOs, philanthropists, sustainability professionals, and media.

Pando Awards keynote speaker is Betty Yee, Vice-Chair of the California Democratic Party. Special Guest presentations by Gregory Boyle, SJ, founder of Homeboy Industries; Rita Kampalath, LA County Chief Sustainability Officer, and more. Ed Bacon is Awards moderator.

The Pando Awards are a celebration of hope for the California Southland. It’s the sustainability event of the year. To read more about the April 2023 Awards event, go here. Watch unedited footage of the entire program, and see all the speeches, here.
