California State Polytechnic University, Pomona presents
Gathering Around the Lyle Center
A youth education project on urban wildlife, biodiversity, habitat, and conservation done through educational signage, sculpture, and website integration.
The project aims to turn an existing habitat at Cal Poly’s Lyle Center for Regenerative Studies into a public education space focused on urban wildlife, biodiversity, habitat, and conservation. The Lyle Center offers a biodiversity hotspot for native and urban-tolerant wildlife, making the outdoor location ideal for informal learning through educational signage, sculptures, and integrated website content that highlights the local plant and animal species. The project furthers the Center’s mission to serve as an example for Southern California communities, and anticipates its resources to be made available in multiple languages. Accessible pathways allow for linked experiences and applied learning that celebrates biodiversity and conservation.
