California State Polytechnic University, Pomona presents
Nature-full Schoolyards for a Climate Positive World
Nature-based design strategies remake learning environments.
Nature-full Schoolyards is a project to develop a series of design plans to support Washington Elementary Stem Magnet School’s ambition to naturalize its schoolyards. The designs propose multi-functional environments that foster a sense of belonging, inspire awe, promote biodiversity, provide shade, and offer opportunities for hands-on environmental learning. Project construction is moving forward over the summer of 2026, with an outdoor classroom for nature-based learning activities.
