Blue Quest
An interactive, mixed reality experience that teaches and encourages ocean sustainability to protect Long Beach’s coastal waters.
Blue Quest is an interactive human-centered design project that focuses on engaging locals and tourist families in an environmental education experience centered around ocean sustainability and climate awareness. As the issues of pollution and climate change continue to intensify, coastal cities must focus their efforts on setting a foundation of sustainability and inspiring a sense of social accountability early on in children and families. Our approach includes making a virtual experience through playful digital mobile solutions and implementing a circular-economy prototype around the Lion’s Lighthouse in Long Beach. Our design for ocean sustainability and climate awareness combines storytelling, marine education, and public space design to foster community connection, promote sustainable behavior, and reimagine the City of Long Beach as an interactive ocean classroom.
