California State University, Long Beach presents
Blue Quest
An interactive, mixed-reality experience encourages ocean sustainability and protection of Long Beach coastal waters.

Blue Quest is an an environmental education experience centered around ocean sustainability and climate awareness. An interactive, human-centered design project, it engages locals and tourist families alike.

As problems of pollution and climate change intensify, coastal cities must redouble their sustainability efforts and inspire a sense of social accountability early-on in children and families. The project aims to do this in engaging ways, including through a virtual experience that uses playful digital solutions, and the opportunity to test implementation of a circular-economy prototype in an area around the Lion’s Lighthouse in Long Beach.

Blue Quest combines storytelling, marine education, and public space design to foster community connection, promote sustainable behavior, and reimagine the City of Long Beach as an interactive ocean classroom.
