UCLA Extension presents
Spring Street Park: A living lab
The project reimagines an abused park in downtown LA with a vibrant and sustainable future.
How might we reimagine downtown LA’s Spring Street Park in ecologically sustainable ways? This is the challenge of the project team — made all the more challenging for how, after many years of neglect, the park has become little more than a dog run. The project requires bold rethinking from A to Z.
The outcome? Plans developed by the project for a vibrant, comfortable, and unified public gathering space are building momentum for implementation.
More than that, the project models the process of moving a struggling downtown area through competing stakeholder requests to revitalize community and a greater downtown area.
