Public Awareness
Through the creation of a local podcast series, students from College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita are spearheading an effort to train a new generation of leaders in sustainability and environmental issues. Santa Clarita, in the far northwestern end of Los Angeles County, depends on a network of traditional community service organizations to support environmental and sustainability efforts. Podcasts explore how the lack of affordable housing, exacerbated by a wide array of environmental and economic factors, is affecting many residents. By interviewing and engaging with an older generation of leadership, these podcasts promote intergenerational dialogue, help bridge generational differences, and identify common threads that foster a shared sense of community and well-being.
